Launch of BSL Hate Crime DVD

10th November - Deaf Connections, Glasgow. 5.00pm - 8.00pm

BSL users do not always have the same access to information as their hearing friends and family; but they may still be attacked or bullied because of their Deafness or for using BSL in public.

The Equality & Hate Crime Team, part of Community Safety Glasgow produced some excellent “Hate Crime – What You Need To Know” leaflets in a range of languages including Plain English; Punjabi; Urdu; Mandarin; Slovak; Arabic; French; Kurdish & Polish.

They have also produced the same leaflet in BSL and this DVD is free to members of the Deaf Community.

The video will be launched on Thursday 10th November at a special evening running from 5pm to 8pm in Deaf Connections, Glasgow. You will receive a copy of the DVD on the night to take home with you.

This meeting is open to all members of the Deaf Community and a warm welcome will be extended to you. There will be a hot buffet from 5pm to 5.45pm and then at 6pm there will be an information session about Hate Crime, the viewing of the DVD and a question and answer session.

Pauline Kelly, the Hate Crime Policy Officer will be available as will PC Gillian Forrester & PC Colin Forbes from the Diversity Unit of Strathclyde Police to answer your questions so please do come along and find out more about Hate Crime and 3rd Party Reporting Centres.
